ArcTanGent announce 40 bands for 2014 lineup

ArcTanGent are getting things moving this morning with the announcement of 40 bands, including two headliners, and with tickets going back on sale, incase you didn’t pick up one previously, you big dafty.

Firstly, a headliner announcement. A band who could challenge Baby Godzilla with their live show.

After some arguably tame headliners last year, The Dillinger Escape Plan will be a bloody riot headlining the Arc stage at this year’s ArcTanGent. Their energetic show at Koko just over a year was incredible with jumps from balconies and guitarists throwing themselves all over the venue and I expect they’ll be just as much a spectacle when August comes around.

Moving onto Thursday, they’ve already announced the early entry lineup; Cleft, Alpha Male Tea Party and AK/DK are announced so far with a great band from ArcTanGent’s opening year closing the stage.

That’s right, 65daysofstatic return to close the Thursday night – hopefully it’ll be as spectacular as their last headline set. We had a quick catch up with Paul Wolinski from the band to find out what they’re up to and what they thought of the last ArcTanGent.

The full announcement of bands adds Vennart, Talons, Her Name Is Calla, British Theatre, The Algorithm, Rolo Tomassi and Tangled Hair, Flood of Red, 100 Onces, Prosperina, Latitudes, Black Peaks, 11Paranoias, Body Hound, Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster, Gum Takes Tooth, Cleft, AK/DK, Alpha Male Tea Party, Valerian Swing, We Never Learned To Live, Trojan Horse, Polymath, Sonance, OHHMS, Alright The Captain, Obe, Patchwork Natives, Downard, Pocket Apocalypse, Juffage, Vodun, Crows An Wra, IEPI, Vasa, Eschar, Lambhorn and Steve Strong.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t massively excited to hear new music from former Oceansize man Mike Vennart, twice during the weekend, once for new project Vennart and again with the lovely British Theatre. He says, “I’m delighted to announce I’ll be playing two sets at ArcTanGent Festival this August – one with British Theatre and the other with my new band Vennart. Anyone familiar with my past will recognise some familiar faces – and maybe even the odd tune. I’ll be bringing the marvelous Steve Durose and, of course, the effervescent Gambler along for the ride. The people at ArcTanGent have invited us every year to perform and I’m happy to finally be in a position to say yes. We’re gonna make a weekend of it, hang out, have a bevvy and watch some weird bands. See ya there!

Tickets are back on sale today at the ArcTanGent website.
