The Great Escape 2015- First Lineup Announcement

This morning The Great Escape announced the first wave of artists destined for the three day SXSW-on-sea. As always the lineup boasts an eclectic mix of new bands and artists that are sure to appeal to all musical palettes; from the likes of the ‘synths, drums, noise and space’ of AK/DK down to the folk-pop of Admiral Fallow through to the infectious indie of The Magic Gang.

If the host of new music isn’t enough to tempt you, there’s plenty of established artists that’ll be airing their new musical wares at TGE. Those that queued for 2 hours before doors opening for Alabama Shakes in 2012 will be happy to hear that the American blues folksters will be back as the first of three Brighton Dome headliners. Established asymmetric electro-indie will be making a hefty appearance too with both Django Django and Dutch Uncles both set to crop up in Brighton over the weekend.

Personally, we’re looking forward to Demob Happy finally making it to an official TGE slot after bootlegged, back-of-the-van performances in 2013 and an appearance at Bleach’s Alt-Escape showcase last year. Similarly seeing Slaves make a welcome return has us chomping at the bit to see what biscuit related banter they’ll be able to supply this year.

And still with 142 unmentioned bands to start exploring, you know that TGE is going to be the place to be. After all, we do like to be beside the seaside.
