Track Of The Day: Francobollo – Steven Hawkins

“Moonshiner records gave us 3000 Swedish Krona to make our next music video a viral success”

Francobollo‘s new single ‘Steven Hawkins’ is one of those tracks where I was grabbed by the video and it’s wacky charm, a video that seemed quite odd to begin with and then somehow managed to end up even more odd. Crazy. With their <£300 budget in their pockets, and a charming indie track with some sweet chord progressions and some extra instrumentation and handclaps to present, the band appear to have gone down that classic Go Pro and smashing people in the head with bricks line. You know the one, we’ve all been there, right? Having to promote something and resorted to brick based violence? Well, the oddity doesn’t stop there, but I’d rather not ruin it! You can watch it below.

The track itself is a refreshing slightly lo-fi track, with really understated vocals and, as previously mentioned, some awesome additional instrumentation. I hate to use the term, because most the time it’s shoehorned in inappropriately, but it’s definitely jangly indie!

The single comes out next Monday, and the band are out on tour this week supporting the single, playing Brighton’s Green Door Store tomorrow night, The Sebright Arms in London on Friday and The Crauford Arms in Milton Keynes on Saturday.
