It’s a pretty glorious day outside*, and a glorious day deserves a glorious track to go with it. Thankfully, the Yellow Bird Project, an organisation who largely sell t-shirts designed by bands to raise money for various charities (check out this awesome design by Daughter, to raise money for Mind), seem to have our backs, streaming a stunning track from their covers compilation, Good People Rock, that’ll have you grinning in no time. The track in question is by the worlds greatest whistler, Andrew Bird, covering a great track by The New Pornographers, ‘Fake Headlines‘. The cover contains everything you could want on a slightly frosty sunny day, a bit of ukelele, some violin sections, Andrew Bird’s lovely voice, and even some of that previously mentioned whistling.
Good People Rock features the likes of King Creosote, Alec Ounsworth, Elvis Perkins, Hayden, Dry The River and more performing classic tracks by TV on the Radio, Rilo Kiley, Hot Chip, Beach House, Metric, Sharon Van Etten and The New Pornographers. The Yellow Bird Project are currently funding the physical release of the album through Pledgemusic, with a selection of cds, vinyl, tshirts and poetry, as well as a digital option. If the rest of the album is as good as this track then they’re certainly onto a winner there.
