Playing a special one off show for the 100th birthday of Leeds’ legendary Brudenell Social Club, ¡Forward, Russia! and This Et Al had sold out the venue within hours of the gig being announced. It would be an understatement to say that by the time ¡Forward, Russia! made it onto the stage the room was buzzing with excitement. For a lot of people this was an opportunity to see a band they’d seen dozens of times during the bands career and for others this was an opportunity to see a band they’d got into since the band went on hiatus in 2008. They didn’t disappoint, putting in the electric energy they’ve always had, performing an incredible setlist spanning their whole career and getting the crowd moving about to an insane degree. The band have made it clear that they were only planning on playing the one off show to celebrate the venue’s 100th birthday, but with the show such a success I can only wonder whether they’ll be sticking to that. Hopefully they don’t; hopefully they decide to take the reunion on tour.
