Alice Jebs Presents

Live Preview – Her Parents, Layers, A Plastic Rose – Old Blue Last London

A Plastic Rose put out one the most underated albums of last year. I could talk about it for the next 300 words but that’s not the point of this article.

The point of this article is to make sure that you are as pumped as I am for Her Parents, Layers, A Plastic Rose & TCTNCs at the Old Blue Last on June 16th. We got promoter Alice Jebs to give the final say on each of the bands.

Her Parents

Sometimes Mclusky othertimes Pulled Apart by Horses, sorta like The Jam if they were bastardised and constantly playing the Mock the Week sound track ( Track in question being ‘News of the world’ listen to I live in a tree and imagine Mock the Week ). Her Parents are here to party with you in a big way but are more than willing to spit you out and smash you up like a cheap thai hooker if you are unwilling to jump to their music. Very excited for these guys as they comprise of former members of DANANANAKROYD so you will be able to catch me down the front spinning like a nut whilst attempting to keep my legs in sync. Shouty rock for the win.

Jebs says:

Shouty noise punks from London, kind of a super group from other bands but don’t let that define them. Just released their new album and it’s flippin’ class

Layers

I don’t know a lot about Layers as they don’t allow hipsters like myself to hear their songs on Spotify, however after delving into the WWW, i found these guys totally hardcore and equally pleasurable. Who else can pull of a Christmas song and not look like sellouts. Looking at you, Dropkick Murphys. Very much looking forward to seeing these guys, even with their limited material available. If there’s a merch stand, I will raid it.

Jebs Says:

Incredible 4 piece from Birmingham. Amazing live shows. THE SINGER DOES BACKFLIPS.

A Plastic Rose

I interviewed these guys at 2012’s Live at Leeds festival and they are a fab group of lads who deserve the success that they are yet to receive. They’ve supported Snow Patrol at the person request of Gary Lightbody (who was in Game of Thrones by the way) and the Belfast groups anthem infused music has caused quite a stir here at 7Bit and on various alt music blogs. It surprises me that they are so far down on the bilLing for the night but regardless of slot, they will destroy the OBL.

Jebs Says:

4 piece just moved from Belfast to Nottingham. I’m looking forward to bringing a slice of home into London by putting these boys on!
