Band of the Day: Laura Williams

Laura Williams has a huge voice. Her powerful vocals resonate atop substantial guitar melodies, both emanating soul and fervour in spades that really make you question why this woman hasn’t yet been launched into the spotlight for all to see and hear.

‘Way I Feel’ and ‘Now But Not Forever’ are show sublime vocal strength and ‘bluesy-rock’ rhythm, the former track startling reminiscent of the very best K.T. Tunstall had to offer on ‘Eye To The Telescope’ with the latter a fiery pacey track with a rousing chorus built up by large guitar-influenced verses. ‘One Minute More’, a slower but similarly enchanting song of hers, may be recognisable to a few as it was picked up by MTV for use on one of their shows.

Laura went through the traditional channels to hone her talents, picking up the electric guitar during her teens before working towards a Pop Music diploma. She’s currently intermittently playing sets live at various venues around the UK but needs to start getting her work out through the various available channels online, as currently she’s not an easy artist to track down.

You can find a couple of tracks on SoundCloud and a handful on Myspace, but as of yet there doesn’t seem to be any EP of any kind available; best ask her on Twitter/Facebook if that can be rectified and perhaps where she’s playing when.

Below is a video of her performing a superb track called ‘Too Much’.
